About the Author
I am married and have a wonderful wife and
we have two beautiful sons. If it were not for my wife I would not be the person
I am today. She is the most caring and supportive person I could
have in my life. I thank God for her with all that I am. And
if giving her to me was not enough he blessed us with the most wonderful
and beautiful sons in the world. Even at worst times they are still
angels. When we are down all they haave to do is smile at us and all the
worries of the world are gone. Our oldest in his first year at Pre-school
earned the title Mr. Congeniality.
I served eight years in the United States Marine
Corp where I had the privilege of seeing places like Italy and
Okinawa. I spent the first five years in North Carolina at Camp
Lejune except for the five months I spent in Sicily, Italy. The last
three of my enlistment I spent in Okinawa, Japan. I was in the
supply field but picked up a lot of computer knowledge while serving
there. My primary experience in supply was in Asset
Management. I have seen many different computer environments while
in the Marine Corp. During the three years in Okinawa I was the
administrator for thirty users and preformed all software and hardware
trouble shooting for our building as well as user support. I became proficient
in installing Win 98 and Win NT. I also became proficient in Lotus
96, Lotus Millennium Edition (Word Pro, Approach, and Freelance Graphics),
Microsoft Office 97 - 2000 (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Front Page,
Outlook, and Desktop Publisher). In my Off time I tried to spend as
much time as could helping in the Computer Systems Administrator and
Computer Technicians sections were I gained invaluable knowledge.
After a year and a half in Okinawa I decided to
pursue an Associates degree in Computers through Central Texas
College. During the first term I took one class. After that
term I went full time which was two classes. each class over there
was accelerated and was only eight weeks long but they were three days a
week at four hours a class. I attended class Monday through Saturday.
During this time I maintained a 4.0 GPA. When I got out of the
Marine Corp and relocated back to Texas I started attending San Jacinto College
to complete the degree I started. I am working fulltime during the
day and taking twelve hours at night.
With the Knowledge I gained in College classes I
tried to use it in my work. I started developing a visual library
for all the track able assets we had that would be accessible from the
server using word and html. During my stay in Okinawa I also
developed two access databases. One database was to track the
marines information and training for the platoon sergeant and the second
was to track Meals Ready to Eat (MRE's) which were a highly controlled
item. I also used spreadsheets to analyze reports for asset tracking
and to manage the funds in the fiscal section. I always tried to
teach those around me and pass on the knowledge I learned in school.
After getting out of the the Marine Corp I went
to work for an wholesale electrical distributor as Computer Programs
Specialist and I am currently maintaining the Electronic Catalog and
Auto-pricing them. My duties have included the revision, maintenance,
and implementation of a Access Database to track the status of the Export
departments quotes. I also have done some Graphic work on a Mouse
Pad (for Advertisement), Christmas cards, CD Labels, and CD Case
sleeves.
I have also started a couple of business of my
own. I started J&C Associates which focuses on web design.
I also started J&C Computers which focuses on computer repair, and
network implementation for individuals and small business. As independent
associates for Pre-Paid Legal Services©, Inc. Chris and I
market Legal service plans for Family/Individuals, Small Business, Group Benefits,
Commercial Drivers, and Police Officers. We are also training others
to do the same. This is to leverage our time. As Robert
Kiasaki instructed we are trying to generate multiple income streams that
kick off a little bit each.
